Hip Pain Treatment | Glen Iris & Malvern

Hip pain is often more complex than it first appears. The hip joint itself, the surrounding muscles and tendons, the sacroiliac joint, and the lumbar spine are all closely connected. Pain felt in or around the hip can have several possible sources and sometimes more than one at the same time.

At Movement Osteopathy, we take a thorough approach to hip pain, assessing how the joint moves, how the surrounding structures are loaded, and how your pelvis and lower back are contributing to the picture. Getting that assessment right makes a significant difference to how effectively we can treat it.

Whether you're dealing with a sharp catch in the groin, a deep ache in the outer hip, or stiffness that has been building for years, there's usually a clear reason for it and a clear path forward.

Common conditions we treat include:

  • Hip flexor strains and tendinopathy

  • Gluteal tendinopathy

  • Femoral acetabular impingement

  • Labral tears

  • Greater trochanteric pain syndrome

  • Sacroiliac joint dysfunction

  • Referred pain from the lumbar spine

  • Hip osteoarthritis

  • Piriformis syndrome
