Headaches Treatment | Glen Iris & Malvern

Not all headaches are the same and not all of them start in the head. A significant proportion of headaches, particularly those that come on after prolonged screen time, feel worse with neck movement, or build gradually through the day, have a musculoskeletal origin and can respond well to osteopathic treatment.

At Movement Osteopathy, headache assessment looks carefully at the neck, upper back, jaw, and surrounding structures. Tension in the suboccipital muscles, restricted movement in the upper neck, and referred pain from the mid back region are all common contributors that are often overlooked.

If you've been managing your headaches with pain relief without getting to the bottom of what's causing them, it's worth finding out whether there's a musculoskeletal component that can actually be addressed.

Common conditions we treat include:

  • Cervicogenic headaches

  • Tension headaches

  • Headaches related to jaw tension and TMJ dysfunction

  • Headaches related to poor posture and prolonged screen use
